When taking pictures of animals, more often than not, you rarely make a connection. This big girl was so interesting to watch and she was so interested in me. She hid behind a concrete post in the zoo and watched me with one eye, occasionally holding her trunk downwind to sample me. With such large eyes you can almost see into their personality.
I have never had such an experience with an animal so large and intelligent. If she could have fit in the mini-van I think she would have come home with me.
